![]() Paulette Thomson taught in England and British Columbia for 29 years. She has a Master of Arts degree and taught at the high school level as well as instructing student teachers in the Professional Development Program at Simon Fraser University. Paulette retired from teaching to undertake an apprenticeship in bookbinding with Holger Rasmussen, a Master Bookbinder with 54 years experience. In 2005 she became the Manager of Rasmussen Bindery and is responsible for staffing, marketing and customer service. The company has continued to flourish by offering an excellent standard of work. In 2008, Paulette was able to bring Russell Murphy to the company with his many bookbinding skills and interest in teaching our staff how to achieve high standards of excellence in their craft. Paulette's bookbinding apprenticeship together with her vast educational experience have given her first-rate listening, communication and problem-solving skills. Her educational background and interest give her the ability to advise clients on materials, colour and design. |
![]() Russell Murphy has been a journeyman bookbinder for over 30 years. After finishing his apprenticeship at W.T. Morrell Fine Binders in London, he continued to widen his experience in the industry by becoming proficient in a wide range of binding styles, using both machine and hand methods. He graduated from the London College of Printing in 1981 with Certificates in Bookbinding, Printing and Print Finishing. Russell's career included a stint at BBC's popular Music Library, where he looked after their vast sheet music collection and the binding of special projects, as well as printing and binding for the University of Warwick. After arriving in Canada in 2002, Russell became bindery manager at Centennial Bookbinding, North Vancouver, where he concentrated on raising the skill level of staff to European standards. In 2008, he bacame a partner at Rasmussen Binding. He has brought together a fully apprenticed and highly motivated team dedicated to a high standard of craftsmanship, best value options and first class customer service. |
